Co-chairs
Hi! My name is Samudhya Jayasekara and I’m one of WUSC’S Co-Chairs. I’m from Sri Lanka, in my final year at Trent and majoring in Sociology and Philosophy. I have a wide range of hobbies that include conventional things like movies and music and not-so-conventional things like collecting Olympic quarters and alphabetizing my sock drawer. I am extremely skeptical of how foreign aid programs are designed and handled around the world, and believe that education is the best long-term investment which can be made in the name of development
I also believe that WUSC is in my best interests because it is in the best interests of everyone!
Hi, my name is Kemorine Reid. I am a second year Psychology and Gender and Women’s Studies student, hailing from the beautiful island of Jamaica. J I am one of the Co Chairs of the WUSC committee at Trent this year and I am looking forward to an exciting and fulfilling year. I decided to become involved with WUSC because I believe that development programs work best when people are directly involved in the process and work hand in hand with each other to create change. I believe that WUSC , through its programs allow for this kind of development as well as create opportunities for participants to grow and develop into better global citizens.

Joining WUSC, for me meant reaching out to others in the community. I am excited for a year with great thinkers who are ready to change the world!
Publicity Committee
Hello! I am Ariel Salmon, second year Biochemistry student at Trent University. I am a part of WUSC Trent’s Publicity Committee. I joined WUSC because I believe we all seek education for the very same reasons, to lift ourselves, our families, our community and ultimately our generation towards better possibilities. It’s an opportunity for me to grow, and find my place in this world, being socially responsible and making positive contributions.
Community Liaison

Hi! My name is Shadhin Rasheed and I’m part of the Community Liaison Committee. I’m from the Maldives and am currently in my second/third year majoring in Psychology. I joined WUSC this year because it stands for a lot of things that I believe in. One of my goals in life is to make my mark on the world and help change a few lives, and I feel like through WUSC I can get one step closer to achieving this goal.

I’m Julia Jenkins. I’ve been involved with Trent University students since 1995. As a College Don, a mature student, the Administrative Assistant for the International Program, and as Ottawa Liaison for the WUSC SRP. Through WUSC I am surrounded with great students that are so dedicated and supportive of the Student Refugee Program. As a Staff member I am able to provide support to the Local Committee and the SRP as they continue to build awareness of the WUSC mission.
IT
Hello! my name is Christian Roque and I’m in charge of IT. I am an international student from Honduras doing my third year in Computing Systems. I enjoy listening to music -occasionally headbanging to it- other forms of artistic expression and learning different languages. I heard about WUSC two years ago and since then I’ve seen how WUSC’s approach to development and education is different. I believe that providing tools and raising awareness to reach the organization goals is a great idea! I am a part of WUSC because I believe in it, and it’s a great way to be involved with the Trent community!
