The following update comes to us from WUSC in Ottawa:
WUSC is seeking nominations for the Board of Directors position to complete the term ending November 2009. The member will represent Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Nunavut. Nominations will close 6:00pm EDT, Friday November 7, 2008. Click here for a nomination form.
The election will take place the morning of Sunday November 9, 2008 in Ottawa during the Annual Assembly. All members of WUSC eligible to vote at the Assembly are eligible to vote to fill the vacancy, although the candidates must ordinarily reside in, or study or work in Manitoba, Saskatchewan or Nunavut. The successful candidate will complete the term ending November 2009 and will be eligible for re-election thereafter.
WUSC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board typically meets three times per year (in November, February or March, and June). Members of the WUSC Board generally hold two-year terms. WUSC covers expenses related to serving on the Board. Board Members may not participate in WUSC programs while serving on the Board.
Most of the positions to the Board are elected by the membership at the Annual Assembly and some are appointed by the Board. At last year’s Annual Assembly elections were held for the positions of Treasurer, and five regional members.
