Are you interested in going beyond Canada to study and simultaneously apply the skills you learn in a real work environment? If you are, then perhaps the Students Without Borders programme within WUSC is what you need to get started. By participating in the SWB you will gain valuable skills by working with people in communities and change the world through education!

On Monday, 5th October, 2009, Trent University will be hosting their Study/Work Abroad Fair in the Great Hall of Champlain College (West Bank) from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Many departments, clubs and groups that offer Study/Work Abroad opportunities for students will be present. Members from WUSC at Trent University will definitely be there! So if you are interested in finding out more about Students Without Borders, drop by and get some useful information. While you are there, ask about the upcoming International Seminar to be held in Nepal in 2010 and how you can get involved.

The following comes to us from WUSC.ca:

We would like to invite you and your members to apply to our overseas volunteer opportunities through Students Without Borders and gain first-hand experience in developing countries.

We have some wonderful opportunities for volunteer placements in Botswana, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Malawi, Niger, Peru and Vietnam and we also provide travel bursaries to offset students’ costs for summer 2008 volunteer placements in Burkina Faso (up to $2,500), Ghana (up to $2,000), Niger (up to $3,000), Peru (up to $1,500) and Vietnam (up to $2,500). Please visit the WUSC website for more details on placement descriptions. You will notice that the deadline to apply was February 8th. However, we are accepting applicants until all placements are filled.

Kindly share this information with any students who are interested in or may benefit from such an opportunity and please be advised that local committee members have the privilege of having priority over regular applicants.

Please feel free to e-mail us at swb@wusc.ca if you have any questions or concerns.
