Keynote Speaker for the 62nd WUSC Annual General Assembly

You should already know about the 62nd WUSC Annual General Assembly (AGA) that is coming up on November 7th – 9th. As with all AGAs there will be a dynamic speaker to deliver the keynote address and this year the speaker is none other than Mr. Alfred Orono.
Mr. Alfred Orono is an International Criminal Lawyer working for the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in the Appeals and Legal Advisory Division of the Office of the Prosecutor. As Assistant Appeals Counsel, Mr. Orono is committed to bringing to justice the perpetrators of the Rwandan genocide.
Mr. Orono is originally from Uganda where he served as a child soldier fighting the oppressive military rule of the dictator Idi Amin. When the military overthrew Militon Obote for the second time in 1985, Orono fled to exile in Kenya, Ethiopia and Southern Sudan where he spent several years in detention. In 1993, Orono escaped his captors in Southern Sudan and fled to Kenya were he lived as a refugee until 1995, when he was sponsored by WUSC’s Student Refugee Program. After arriving in Canada…
